Luca Simoncini
He graduated with honors, laude and special mention at the Conservatory "A. Boito "in Parma, under the guidance of Maestro Franco Rossi of whom he also followed the courses of chamber music at the Conservatory of Florence. He has performed in several theaters, including La Scala in Milan, in concerts dedicated to the Art of Bach's Fugue with the Masters Borciani, Pegreffi (CD Nuova Era 6744/45). He has collaborated as a soloist with the Solisti Veneti, the Nuovi Virtuosi di Roma and the Solisti di Mosca in tours that have ranged from Europe to Japan. He has collaborated with numerous artists: Pier Narciso Masi, Benedetto Lupo,BorisPetrushansky, Andrea Lucchesini,Federico Agostini,Domenico Nordio, Massimo Quarta, Marco Rizzi, Marco Rogliano, Pavel Vernikov, Corrado Giuffredi, Gervase de Peyer, Eddie Daniels and Anthony Pay, Fabrizio Merlini, Danilo Rossi, Simonide Braconi, Enrico Dindo, Mario Brunello, as well as with the Borodin Quartet, with Maestro Giuseppe Sinopoli, with the Mozart Orchestra conducted by Maestro Claudio Abbado. Since 1980 he has been teaching cello at the F. Venezze Conservatory of Rovigo. Esteemed teacher, he is regularly invited as a member of the judging panels of National and International Chamber Music and Cello Competitions. For Bottega Discantica he recorded the complete works of F. Mendelssohn for cello and piano, in duo with Andrea Carcano and then the Six Suites of Bach for cello solo. Since its foundation he is cellist of the Nuovo Quartetto Italiano, with which he has performed throughout Europe, Japan, United States, Soviet Union, earning wide recognition. The Nuovo Quartetto Italiano has collaborated for over a decade with the tenor José Carreras. For its recordings it has received the highest awards from specialized critics: Stella d'oro, Diapason d'or, Choc du Monde de la Musique, Prestige, Gran Prix du Disque with Claves, Emi, Adda, Nuova Era.
